Walk and Talk

I was fortunate enough to have miles of open space, woodland, hills and rivers close to my childhood home in Scotland. I spent as many hours in these spaces as I possibly could, come rain or shine.

Science and research now show the mental health benefits to be gained from being outside.  Being in natural daylight, with even gentle exercise lifts mood, boosts positivity and can even relieve physical pain. Walking can help to change how we feel and think and lead us on a path to becoming more motivated and relaxed.

Walking side by side can help to reduce the formality of being in a room facing one another. Many clients feel this helps to break down barriers and it may feel more comfortable for you. I feel that forward movement is crucial to recovery and understanding, and physical motion can, perhaps, free the mind to view things differently.

In my “Walk and Talk” sessions, we’ll meet up and have a gentle, or brisk walk whilst discussing what’s on your mind.  Feel free to bring your dog and I’ll provide umbrellas for those wet days!

Please drop me a line on the contact form if this is something that appeals to you.

Lived Experience Inspirational
Mental Health Talk.

A unique talk to illustrate how acute and post-traumatic stress can feel, and the effects these can have on those around you. This talk is based on my own, near death experience in the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004. It also illustrates how with the correct counselling, hope and recovery are not only possible but likely.
